This fine flour is a purely natural product made from the outer husk of the psyllium plantain seed. Psyllium husks contain a lot of mucilage and soluble fibre, which have a prebiotic effect in the intestine and promote healthy intestinal flora.

Psyllium husks combat diarrhoea by absorbing excess fluid and improving the consistency of faeces. In the case of constipation, the high crude fibre content promotes digestion and makes the faeces smooth. Intestinal peristalsis is stimulated. Psyllium husks also help with anal gland problems by solidifying or increasing the volume of faeces. Psyllium husks are also helpful in cases of hyperacidity as they are alkaline and bind excess acids.

Psyllium husks should be fed soaked. As they absorb a lot of liquid due to their strong swelling behaviour, they can cause blockages or, in the worst case, even lead to an intestinal blockage if fed in excessive quantities when dry.
